his is one of the most popular therapeutic spa centers in the Czech Republic and known worldwide for it's cures. Here the most commonly treated diseases are those of the digestive organs, like stomach diseases, stomach and duodenal ulcers, diseases of liver, pancreas, gall bladder and gall duct. Metabolic disorders are also treated here, including diabetes mellitus, obesity, high level of fat in the body (hypercholesterolemy, dyslipidemy) and gout. Other patients received here suffer from motor system diseases, especially those of the spine.

Karlovy Vary spa treatment is based on the drinking cure, i.e. the drinking of Karlovy Vary mineral springs. Their composition is very similar– they are alcalic-salinic -muriatic hot springs with approximately 6 g of salt per litre. Besides basic chemicals–sodium, calcium, chlorides, sulphates and carbonates - they contain numerous other elements. Karlovy Vary hot springs rise from the depth of 2000 m. Besides the drinking cure, they are used for complex treatment and classical hydrotherapeutic procedures, diet therapy and modern physical treatment.

During their stay, all patients can go through highly specialized examination of cardiovascular system, digestive organs, bones and apnea and consult with physicians. Special curative programs target certain diseases (diabetes mellitus, weight reduction); wellness and fitness stays and light healing stays for the end of the year are prepared. Patients can use rehabilitation swimming pools, whirlpools, saunas, fitness centres and visit beauty salons and amenities.
Spa hotels have full diagnostic divisions; ultrasonography, endoscopy, bone densitometry and bowel irrigation. The Laser Centre uses the latest American technology to remove tatoos, brown and sun spots, birth marks, wrinkles and psoriasis. In addition to the classic balneological treatments, most offer acupuncture, oxygenotherapy, Kneipp therapy, acupressure,  lymph drainage, and more.
The recommended stay is 21 28 days, but it can be either shortened (7 14 days) or prolonged to several weeks. Basic medical examinations are part of the treatment. The physician determines the curative regime (procedures) and the diet . Patients who come should have health insurance and bring the medicaments they use every day with them. Pediatric patients can be examined and treated in a childrens sanatorium nearby.
