It all began in  1445 when Jacopo di Galgano Bichi bought the lands of the village of Bagnaia  " He built the villa, which became the artistic center and contributed to the economic rebirth of the village. The agricultural nature of Bagnaia slowly emerged. And the nearby Filetta, a famous thermal center,  helped consolidate the rebirth of the village.  Bagnaia built up its own reputation attracting nobles from Siena that began to invest locally, further stimulating economic growth of the countryside.

      New buildings have been constructed in full respect of the history of the village. Nowadays, in addition to the traditional hunting ground, Bagnaia offers the possibility to enjoy horseback- riding through a prestigious private equestrian center, which hosts an international competition every year.        In front of Bagnaia but still within the property lies Filetta, another charming hotel,
which was originally an historic post station  famous for its strategic position at
a crossroads between Siena and Grosseto and immersed in the peaceful
surrounding countryside. It is now a lovely combination of it's
original countryside character overlaid with the modern
conveniences guests require.

The brick and  stone restaurant has the atmosphere of an old world tavern
but a gourmet menu of continental and traditional cuisine.
